The main obstacle facing us is us. We don't come together as one body working for a specific purpose and supporting one another.

The absence of the traditional family unit is crippling us socially and economically. African Americans remain single at a rate that is almost twice that of other races, 46.6%. We populate the jails at a rate, especially since we don't make up 10% of the population. Also, there is a void in strong leaders/

African Americans are imprisoned at a rate of 1 in 53 males. Between the ages of 20-30 the rate increases to 1 in 9. We comprise 13 5 of the population of the U.S. and 40% of the prisons. The U.S. spent 50 Billion in 2007 to keep prisoners incarcerated and 60 Billion to educate the nation. The U.S. ranks number one in incarcerations in the world.

SOMETIMES ITS OURSELFS. AS A PROFESSIONAL, SOME WHITE PEOPLE STILL ACT SUPRISED WHEN THEY SEE ME WALK IN A ROOM, AND IT'S 2008!
